Carol Morgan School
Carol Morgan School is an international school in the Capital city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The school year is divided into two semesters which begin in August and finish in June. The school year consists of 182 teaching days. The mascot is the Carol Morgan Shark.
==History==
In 1933, Morgan and her husband found it difficult to provide an education for their children based upon an American curriculum with English language. Morgan started her own school called “The Little School” or the “Santo Domingo Calvert School”, and it was originally housed in an abandoned Episcopal Chapel. There were three teachers and five students in one room, working with donated school supplies. In 1949, Morgan returned to the United States, and the name of the existing school was changed to Carol Morgan School. In 1964, the Dominican government donated property to the school, where the present school is now located. Additionally, construction materials were donated by the American Ambassador. Construction began in 1966 on the school, and in 1968 the student body moved to the completed campus. There have been multiple additions over the years, including: classrooms, resource offices, computer lab, science lab and a drama room.〔〔
